Congratulations!

Congratulations on getting your experiment approved and scheduled at the 88-Inch Cyclotron. This section details what you have to go through to register with LBNL, obtain a dosimetry badge, and take any safety courses needed to run at the Cyclotron.

4-6 Weeks Ahead

Set up a user agreement between your organization and LBNL, if there is not already one in place. Recharge customers (those who pay for beam time) must have a user agreement, purchase order, and an advance payment check in place before beam can be delivered. For other users, a user agreement should be in place between your organization and LBNL, but no account is necessary.

1-3 Weeks Ahead

Register with the Administrative Services Office 2-3 weeks before coming to the Cyclotron. All new users and guests, both U.S. and Non-U.S. citizens, must begin the required registration process by completing the Participating Guest Information Form (PGI Form), the Safety and Training Checklist, and the University of California "Patent Agreement" (available on our Downloads page).

A completed, PGI Form must be received by the Administrative Services Office before you come to the Cyclotron. You may submit this form to us via fax or email (MS Word only) at least two weeks prior to your arrival (Fax: 510-486-6122). The Patent Agreement can be read on the web, but cannot be signed until you arrive at the Cyclotron. Other required registration forms will be ready for completion on the day of your arrival.

Non-U.S. Citizens

New users and guests who are not U.S. citizens must provide additional documentation. Please refer to http://www.lbl.gov/ehs/security/ufva/index.shtml for more information.

Your Arrival

Please notify the Administrative Services Office as soon as you are aware of the date and time of your arrival and departure so that all required documents and training will be ready for you. The Administrative Services Office will arrange for a Laboratory Gate Pass and Parking in the Cyclotron lot (if needed) when notified in advance of arrival. Please enter Laboratory premises via the Blackberry Gate entrance on Cyclotron Road. Gate security will provide directions to the Cyclotron and a 1-day parking permit.

The Administrative Services Office is open weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to process new users.

After Hours

Users and guests arriving after normal working hours will be given safety training and a dosimenter by the Control Room Operator on duty (88-163A). A Participating Guest Information (PGI) Form, Safety and Training Checklist, and other required forms must also be completed and signed before access is granted. The forms (available on our Downloads page) should be completed prior to coming to the Cyclotron. You may submit any completed forms via fax or email, in MS Word format at least two weeks ahead of your arrival to 510-486-6122 (fax) or DJTrowbridge-Williams@lbl.gov. New users and guests will need to return to the Administrative Services Office the next working day to complete the registration process and obtain access to the Cyclotron for the duration of your research or visit.
